Online reservation: check availability
Through our online reservation system you can immediately see which boats are available on your chosen day and time. During the high season, from May through September, boats on sunny days are sometimes fully booked days in advance. Therefore, reserve in time to avoid disappointment. Outside the high season and on weekdays it may sometimes be possible to come by without a reservation, but even then a spot is never guaranteed without a booking. All boats are electrically powered, allowing you to sail quietly and without emissions through the canals of Giethoorn village. Sloops: spacious and comfortable
The sloop is the most popular choice for families and larger groups. The sloops at Koppers are electric and can accommodate up to 8 people. At the front there is a round seating area so everyone can sit together. At the back there is a steering console that makes the boat easy to operate, even for inexperienced skippers. You can reserve a sloop for 2, 3, 4, or 6 hours. With a trip of 2 to 3 hours you will sail through the centre of Giethoorn with its typical wooden bridges and picturesque farmhouses. If you choose 4 to 6 hours, you will also sail through Giethoorn-South, Giethoorn-North, and large parts of National Park Weerribben-Wieden. Please note: dogs are not allowed on board and a €50 cash deposit is required before departure, which you will receive back afterwards.
Whisper boat: quiet enjoyment on the water
A whisper boat accommodates 1 to 6 people and is controlled with a lever instead of a steering wheel. The electric outboard motor produces very little noise, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the surroundings. Are you coming with more than 6 people? During weekends, school holidays, and sunny days in the high season, boats at Koppers Giethoorn are quickly fully booked. If you visit on a weekday outside the summer season, there is a greater chance that boats are still available. However, even in quieter periods it can become busy quickly when the weather is nice. The cruise boats are fully electric, can accommodate up to 48 people per boat, and are fully covered. This makes them suitable even in less favourable weather. During the trip you will receive a free cup of coffee, tea, or lemonade. An experienced skipper guides the tour and tells you about the history of Giethoorn, the typical bridges, and the farmhouses along the canals. When you rent a boat at Koppers, you will receive a boating route that will be explained by an employee. There are routes for short trips of 2 to 3 hours through the village centre and longer routes of 4 to 6 hours that also pass through Giethoorn-South, Giethoorn-North, and National Park Weerribben-Wieden. On the longer routes you will see significantly more nature, bridges, and farmhouses. The batteries of all boats are fully charged for a full day of sailing.
Practical information: deposit and terms
When renting a boat through Koppers Giethoorn, there are a few practical matters to keep in mind. A €50 cash deposit is required before departure. This deposit will be returned after the trip in accordance with the general terms and conditions. If the boats at Koppers are no longer available on your chosen day and time, Koppers will refer you to its sister company Zuideinde in Giethoorn.
